Actress, singer, producer, activist, inclusion leader, and journalist, Katharine “Kat” Kramer is also the Founder of “Kat Kramer’s Films That Change The World” an international cinema series that showcases motion pictures and documentaries that raise awareness about important social issues, such as animal-rights, dolphin slaughter, and wildlife advocacy, LGBTQ bullying and school violence, environmental and nuclear issues, to name a few. Established in 2009, Kramer, following in her late father’s footsteps, advocated for the Oscar-winning documentary “The Cove”. Stanley Kramer made thirty-five social-justice feature films, with eighty- five Oscar nominations, sixteen wins associated with his films, and the prestigious Irving J. Thalberg Award, Stanley Kramer was a maverick filmmaker.

Kat Kramer is passionate about the new venture she’s launching in 2024. #SHEroesForChange Festival and Podcast is an outreach program presented by her cinema series and production shingle, KNK Productions, Inc. The festival will celebrate female empowerment through film and music. According to Kramer ” Our mission is to celebrate and explore female equality, representation, and DEI. We recognize #SHEroes who are Changemakers, both famous and often overlooked. We honor women-in-focus, people who identify as female, female-driven stories, female filmmakers, and women making a difference.”

Just as she established “Kat Kramer’s Films That Change the World,” the #SHEroesForChange Festival and accompanying podcast will follow a similar format.

“I’ve curated all the films for the first year. I plan to engage in a grassroots movement of supporters and build a sense of community. Eventually, I will open up membership and accept film submissions. In the beginning, I want the film screenings, and “think tank” panels to be open to everyone, and affordable for those in underrepresented, marginalized groups.  #SHEroesForChange strives to be educational, enlightening, and impactful. Many women have shared with me that I’m filling a need. It’s a challenge I hope to meet.”

In the meantime, she’s been moderating Talk Backs and Q and A’s for some of the documentary features she’s selected for the #SHEroesForChange Festival.  Two of these films are already acclaimed-, award-winning, and Oscar-qualifying.  They are both about two different trailblazing women named Bella.

The first one is called “BELLA” and is the documentary feature about the late Bella Lewitzky. Bella was a dancer, pioneering choreographer, and outspoken arts activist. Lewitzky was even Blacklisted by HUAC, but that didn’t stop her from making her mark. Bella defined modern dance on the West Coast and was an early intersectional influencer. “BELLA” is the documentary directorial debut of filmmaker Bridget Murnane, and her BAM Moves, LLC.   It has won multiple awards on the film festival circuit.

The second documentary feature – “Bella!”- This Woman’s Place Is in The House” is about the late Bella Abzug, a legendary woman politician in the 1960’s.  Known as “Battlin’ Bella” – she “battled” for credit cards for women, equal rights for the LGBTQ community, and fought for the under-dogs in society. Abzug, an East Coast pioneer in Feminist history. was a Congresswoman, lawyer, and an outspoken leader in women’s rights. This acclaimed doc is full of high-profile interviews including Hillary Clinton, Barbra Streisand, Shirley MacLaine, Lily Tomlin, Nancy Pelosi, Gloria Steinem, Maxine Waters, Marlo Thomas, Phil Donahue, Charles Rangel, Renee Taylor, and the late David Dinkins. Bella Abzug founded National Women’s Equality Day, which is recognized annually on August 26th. “Bella!” is written/directed by Jeff L. Lieberman from his Re-Emerging Films.

Kat is scheduled to moderate the Talk Back / Q and A for “Bella!” This Woman’s Place is in the House” on Thursday, December 14th at 7 PM, The Camelot for the film’s Palm Springs premiere.  She will be joined by the filmmaker Jeff L. Lieberman and other special guests.

“I’m pleased to be championing these two amazing documentaries about women named Bella, about genuine #SHEroes who have been too often overlooked. Both “Bella’s” paved the way for so many, and I’m passionate to share their stories via #SHEroesForChange.”

Kat Kramer knows she may face resistance with a female-oriented podcast and festival, facing women’s issues head on, especially since Roe V. Wade has been overturned.

“It’s a serious time in our country, and the world,” says Kramer.”  I don’t shy away from controversy. I must give a “voice” to “SHEroes” who refuse to be silenced. After all, we still have to get the ERA passed into law!”

Katharine ‘Kat” Kramer is a former Miss Golden Globe Ambassador. Kat is the daughter of legendary filmmaker Stanley Kramer, actress/producer Karen Sharpe-Kramer, and the Godchild/namesake of screen icon Katharine Hepburn.

Kat served on the dais and opened the program for the Pioneer Luncheon honoring her performing idol Lily Tomlin. She received a standing ovation with a special salute musical parody called “Dear Lily Tomlin.” An animal rights advocate, Ms. Kramer re-imagined the theme song from “Bless the Beasts and Children” as an anthem for animal rescue and wildlife protection organizations. She was honored with the Compassion Award from the Braveheart Women. Kat has appeared in films such as ‘Going Shopping” “What Just Happened” and “Little Fockers.” She created the role of “Frances Rye” and multiple characters in the web series “Child of the 70’s.”

Kat won for Best Supporting Actress at the 2019 Love International Film Festival for her role as “Fran” in TURNOVER, the award-winning indie feature film which is streaming on Amazon Prime. She co-stars as “Michelle” in the award-winning dramatic short film “Mother’s Day Memories.” Kat plays “Beverly” in the award-winning indie feature FATE’S SHADOW: THE WHOLE STORY and its winning short film version FATE’S SHADOW. Ms. Kramer will next be seen as “Violet Grace” in the award-winning indie feature RINGS OF THE UNPROMISED. A Rolling Stones aficionado, Kat recorded an album of Mick Jagger cover songs titled GEMSTONE: Kat Kramer Sings Mick Jagger… and Keith Richards.”
