You’re a young filmmaker making a statement about important issues facing the world. How do you get your film seen by… well, everyone?

Kat Kramer is one person you need to know.

Kramer grew up amidst Hollywood’s elite – daughter of legendary director Stanley Kramer – so moving among the Hollywood crowd comes easy for her. It’s her crowd.

Currently co-starring in the web series Child of the ‘70s, Kramer isn’t just an accomplished, award-winning actress and singer; she produces “Kat Kramer’s Films that Change the World.”

On Saturday, June 3rd Kramer screened her ninth installment at UCLA’s James Bridges Theater, packed with Hollywood luminaries, media and students. That night’s bill featured Court of Conscience, starring actor Jon Voight and The Hunting Ground which respectively highlight the scourge of child abuse and campus rape culture.

This event brings needed attention to films (and their filmmakers) which address controversial issues of the day: school bullies, endangered elephants, the slaughter of dolphins, women’s rights and other important topics.

Kramer says her unique cinema series “combines the red carpet glitz of a Hollywood premier with the film, then follows with a panel discussion and audience questions for the filmmakers and experts in the field related to the film’s subject.”

These events are “by invitation only” and she “doesn’t charge admission because the point is to get the films seen,” not to make money. “I like to get students into the audience because they are the legacy and the future of our culture,” says Kramer.

On Saturday, June 24th, Kramer will be hosting a panel discussion at Scriptfest, a writer and pitching festival. She will converse with Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black at 2pm. ScriptFest is seeking student filmmakers for their student initiative.
